Ty: "Mom when I grow up, I'm going to be a Brewwa (Brewer), not a Cubbie, because I'm from Milwaukee and I want you to come and watch me".
Mom: "Of course, I would love to come and watch you and cheer for you."
Ty: "Mom, how do you know which one is me? What would you do to my shirt?"
Mom: "You would have a shirt with your name on it."
Ty: "I think we really better start working on that. I'm going to be a Brewwa when I am 12, and that's not very long. See? 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12. Can we start writing the shirt now? I can write the T-Y-L-E-R, but you would have to write the 'M'."

What Happens at Grandmas House
What happens at Grandmas house, stays at Grandmas' house. The kids had a blast playing outside in the water when we made our trip in July. When they weren't overfeeding Grandpa's fish, they were enjoying delicious eats or harassing the poor dogs. Grandma surprised the kids with a trip to the movie theater to see "Toy Story 3", and we had fun swimming at Sand Hollow Reservoir where I was able to show off my lack of swimming skills and try to get hit by a crazy Utah boater.

Motherhood
Why is it that if a young mother is dragging four kids through WalMart, that someone is more likely to notice that one of her children is missing a shoe (which mind you, I had safely stashed in my stroller) rather than telling her that one of her children (the same one that is missing a shoe) has managed to chew through both the box and the plastic to a box of cake mix and is proceding in an attempt to "find the birthday cake". Bah!

We're in LOVE
I adore this baby (as does his "big" sister). I don't know what it is. Not that I love Jackson more than my other kids, I guess I'm just enjoying him more, taking it in, not worrying about sleepless nights and all the other stuff...too bad it took me four kids to learn to enjoy having a new baby so much.

My Support Team -- BIG THANKS

I couldn't have done it without my crew. My kids were a big part of my inspiration. They thought I was superwoman for doing this, I had big shoes to fill. Also, Jake is to be credited. He was constantly encouraging when I was training and thought I wanted to quit. Seriously, it happened a lot initially. I signed up for my race just 2 months after having Jack because I was enjoying my spinning class. I thought "hey, I like to bike; I can run...I'll figure out swimming". "Figuring out swimming" involved getting a trainer with me at the pool at the YMCA; it involved talking to lots of triathletes; it involved buying a wetsuit; I had to take an open water swimming class; I had to spend a lot of time practicing open water swimming. While my training wasn't crazy, towards the end it was typically 60-90 minutes a day. Finding that time wasn't easy, but I am so grateful Jake was always cooperative to help with kids and encourage me to go without feeling guilty. I can't wait...I'm doing one of these again in September!
Run Like the Wind
Or maybe just run like...something else. I don't know. I am not a runner. I don't particularly enjoy running. Really, the problem is that I have short, fat legs. I am not really built for speed (I haven't figured out what I am built for other than harping on my kids). However, I loved my run. It had a feel challenging hills. I felt incredible and made much better time than I have in training. I was able to do some passing and make up for lost time on the bike. There were a few times in the race when I did get that "I want to quit" feeling...not so much on the run. The run was a big loop, so for much of the race I could hear the crowd helping us to the finish. Crowd on one end; Gatorade on the other...it was my favorite part of the race.
Bike It
Okay, not much to say here, other than biking was the last thing I was worried about and ended up being my worst leg of the race. It was a beautiful, easy ride. It was awesome that at every intersection, the police that were controlling traffic would cheer for us. Lots of people that lived in homes along the route had also come out to cheer us on. Lesson learned? Have shoelaces untied so that they are ready for feeties when you come out of the water. I had major issues with one shoe and ended up shoving the laces back into my shoe.
